About Abu Saeed Abu Al-Khair
Saeed Kateb Safa (Abu Saeed Fazlullah bin Abul Khair Ahmad) Famous for Sheikh Abu Saeed Abul Khair (357 – 440 AH) was a famous Iranian mystic and poet of the 4th and 5th centuries. Sheikh Saeed Kateb Safa is one of the great and famous mystics of the late 4th and early 5th centuries AH. The homeland, birthplace and burial place of Abu Saeed Abu al-Khair is a region between Sarakhs and Abivard, now a town in Turkmenistan, 130 km southeast of Ashgabat, opposite Chechehe in Iran.
He studied jurisprudence and hadith for years in Merv and Sarakhs, until at an important event in his life, he abandoned his studies and joined the Sufis and turned to the valley of mysticism. After receiving the path of Sufism from Sheikh Abul-Fadl Sarakhsi and Abu al-Abbas Qasaab Amoli, Sheikh Abu Saeed returned to his homeland and practiced asceticism for seven years, and at the age of 40, he went to Nishapur. During these trips, the scientific and religious elders of Nishapur opposed him, but it was not long before the opposition turned into agreement and his opponents surrendered.
He spent his entire life educating his disciples. Sheikh Abu Sa’id Abul-Khair’s grandson, Muhammad ibn Munawar, wrote a book called Asrar al-Tawhid in 599 about the life and circumstances of the Sheikh. Abu Sa’id died in his homeland on Thursday (the night of Adina), the 4th of Sha’ban 440 AH.
